2018 Sangiovese Winery Tenuta Santa Lucia appeared in the late 1960s in the heart of Emilia Romagna. At that time, the economy specialized in the production of cereals, meat, milk, fruits and wine. Only in the late 1990s, it was decided to concentrate solely on winemaking. The company's goal is the production of high-quality wines by natural methods and in harmony with its territory. Vineyards, with an area of about 20 hectares, are planted exclusively with autochthonous varieties - Albana, Famozo, Centesimino and Sangiovese. And cultivation methods are organic and biodynamic. Siderates (green fertilizers) are also periodically used - plants grown for their subsequent incorporation into the soil to improve its structure, enrich it with nitrogen and inhibit the growth of weeds. And all the procedures are carried out in accordance with the calendar of Maria Thun, who is a follower of the biodynamic approach to agriculture, proposed in the early 20th century by Rudolf Steiner.
