Petr Marada, Moravia Sparkling Andel Pet Nat Rzylink

Write a Review

Vintage: 2017

Varietals: 80% Riesling, 20% Welschriesling

Farming: Organic, No added SO2, Unfined/Unfiltered

Nose of bread dough, lemon, orange zest, and diry pear. Dry, medium body, low alcohol (11.5%), high acid and an energetic fizz. Tends to oxidize and get "funkier" the longer it is exposed to air. Gave me basque cider vibes after a hot sec.

Andel translates to "Angel" and that just what we have here, an ethereal, unimaginably good bottle of wine.  Petr's motto might as well be "less is more" and we agree.  Made from 40 year old vines.  Grapes are handpicked and de-stemmed. The wine is bottled with 12 grams of residual sugar to finish as a pet-nat. The wine is disgorged and crown-capped.
