80% Pineau d’Aunis/20% Gamay. From organically farmed, hand-harvested estate vines at over 80 years of age. Vins Contés reds are all made similarly: semi-carbonic maceration with whole clusters in closed tanks with CO2; spontaneous co-fermentation with indigenous yeasts only; aging is in used 500-liter demi-muids (not the case for all VC reds); bottling without fining or filtration in early spring after harvest; no sulfur added at any point.
