6 Puttonyos Aszú from one of the best modern Tokaji vintages. From Lenkey's family estate in Mád, Tokaj. The soil is brown forest clay with volcanic minerals and limestone tuff. Spontaneous fermentation, and aging for 3 years in small gönczi barrels. Fatty and nutty, with flavors of apricot skin and pepper. Rustic, bold, full-bodied Aszú.
While it has 174 grams per liter of residual sugar (balanced by 8.9 grams per liter of acidity), it’s not at all heavy. The intensity comes, instead, in the wine’s detail and concentration, notes of grassy herbs and warm spice, fresh mushrooms and damp stone all drawn together in honeyed richness. And at nearly 20 years old, it still feels youthful." Organic.
