Mukhamtsvane is so rare it didn’t make it into Lisa Granik, MW’s comprehensive book on the wines of Georgia. It produces full bodied, waxy, spicy, yellow peach and lemon fruit notes. The tannins are sleek and the finish is long. Like all Georgian wine, this should be had with food, but will pair well with anything grilled or baked. The closest thing in our cannon would be aged Marsanne-Roussane from the Northern Rhone, but even this falls short of its inimitable Georgian structure.
