A beautiful expression of the Cortese grape from the sandy-clay soils of southern Piedmont at the Il Poggio di Gavi estate. The commercial success of Gavi wines a couple decades ago led to overproduction and watered down wines, but with the establishment of the Gavi DOCG in 1998 things have changed very much for the better. Francesca Poggio has a great touch for her wines. Pale straw in color, with flavors of clean, wet stone, citrus, melon, green herbs and a kiss of honeysuckle. Organic
