The Calcarius project's vineyard take roots in the Gargano area ,in the community of Apricena where the calcareous draws and decides the life of the persons. This part of Puglia is generate form a calcareous platform with white color or pink color,made by compacted limestone rocks crystallized in the Superior Jurassic more than 150 millions of years ago and exactly in the Kimmeridgian geologic era. The land appears on the surface with the typical regolith rocks, which are the result of the limestones crushing and the dark and red clays created by chemical and physical processing of decomposition of these calcareous rocks.
