Winemaker Roberto Olivan Igesias makes his wines from 22 separate parcels made up exclusively of old bush vines (up to 110 years old) in the foothills of the Sierra Cantabria Mountains.  The vineyards reach as high as 650m, at which point they are influenced by the Atlantic Ocean over 50 miles to the north.  Poor, limestone soils lead to greater complexity and the addition of 20% Viura (a white grape) adds a floral, elegant lift to the deep, dark Tempranillo.
