Big boisterous Pinot nose on this 10 year old ‘Louis’ by Coquilette, a cuvée from around Aÿ. Pomelo peel, crushed yellow apples, sourdough, baker’s yeast. On the palate a distinct saline minerality that flows into a long aftertaste, that shows toffee, pear juice. Lively acidity, broad shoulders and supreme depth. This is a keeper.
The vines were planted in 1964. Grapes are slowly pressed, and the wine is fermented and aged in oak barrels for nine months. Zero dosage.
