2017 Syrah First planted in 1946 by Albéric Bouvet, grandfather of Gilles Robin, on the top terroirs of the Estate (Rochas, Monico, and Terres rouges). Low yielding vines of 50+ years. Grapes are hand-harvested. Three terroirs are vinified separately: half destemmed, partial whole cluster, use only native yeasts. Blended together after a year’s ageing in barrels and demi-muids (600L), 20% new. The 2017 Crozes Hermitage Cuvee Alberic is a bit toasty (this cuvée sees about 20% new oak) relative to the Papillon bottling, but it's deeper, richer and more velvety. Baking spices accent blackberry and cassis flavors in this plush, medium to full-bodied effort. Organic
