Certified Organic, practicing Biodynamic. 100% Riesling. Taken from multiple small parcels in the heart of the Schieferberg, a special, schist-dominated lieu-dit in the well-known cru Oberhagel. 1 ha total of the oldest vines in the parcel go into this cuvée; the younger vines in the parcel go into Coup de Jus. 16 mos on the lees in barrel before bottling. Unfined, unfiltered, .5g/l SO2 added. A great example of a ‘natural’ Riesling that still bears varietal typicity and the sense of place from which it hails—fuller-bodied, dry, evolved a bit on the nose, comforting and serene.
