Carignan
To be quite clear, this is funky natural wine from Tecate in Mexico, based around the Carignan grape. The 2019 is in quotation marks and a portion of it is from 2018 and a stuck fermentation that took some time to come to completion. This is primarily about the non-fruits with an aroma set of baked earth, dusty spice, animal and some sweet red fruits. The palate is moderate in weight with zippy acid and a flavor set of baked earth, clay spice, sweet cherry, cranberry, and yes indeed: barnyard.(DM)
