Rousset-peyraguey is a organic chateau with long history and track record of producing beautiful wines from Sauternes.
This 2001 pours with oil like viscosity and sits seductively in the glass with dark amber hue. Dried fig, apricots, and nuttiness with hint of coffee on the nose. Wine coats the palate with oily but not syrupy body, with decadent, classy sweetness. Distinct but reserved acidity shines through to balance out the sweetness, making me wanting to go back to it for more sniffs and sips. Wonderfully rich cocoa, and nutty finish that lasted a full minute. Has lingering hints of oxidative character and dried fruits. A winner.
