Vintage: 2020
Grape Varietal: Sangiovese, with a touch of Canaiolo
Farming: Organic, Biodynamic
Chiesamonti is from single 1.3-hectare parcel called Chiesa Monti, where the 10-year-old vines consist of almost all Sangiovese with a touch of Canaiolo. Due to the stony nature of the soil here, this wine has a linear and granular tannin. A sultry red Sangiovese fruit over grainy tannin is in contrast to the Le Trame which has a tighter structure and will need more time to relax. Silkier, higher-toned, and overall prettier, with a more blatant mineral underpinning and less sumptuously fleshy fruit.
Hand-harvested, spontaneous fermention in open-top barrels, 24 months aging in neutral 500l barrels and Austrian and Slavonian botti, unfined and unfiltered.
