In 2012, a friend of Nicolas’ put him in touch with someone who had purchased two casks of single malt whisky that were distilled on the isle of Arran, in Scotland. It turned out that getting casks from Scotland to the US wasn’t as easy as they anticipated, so they decided to part ways with the whisky. They aged from 1996 to 2012 in Scotland before being moved to France, where they aged further in Cognac casks until their bottling in the summer of 2020, making this single malt whisky 24 years old, despite the 23 years noted on the label. Sometimes you have labels made but don't get to bottling something until the following year!
