Vatted from 54 whiskies aged 12 to 27 years in oak (ex-sherry) casks at 86 proof, this malt has a rich amber color, a nose full of dried flowers, tobacco leaf, Jerez wine, and fat almond, plus a powerful, fruity, long finish.
If you're thinking it must be a French whisky, you'd be half-right. Michel Couvreur whisky starts life as Scottish New Make Spirit, but is then sent to Burgundy in France. The Michel Couvreur signature style comes from a process of maturing whiskies principally in Sherry and Port casks. But the singular identity of these whiskies results from the effects of the Bouze-lès-Beaune cellars, located in Burgundy, half-way between Andalucia and Scotland.
