This pure Nerello Mascalese is a blend from our 3 highest vineyards (Vigne Alte): Tartaraci, Monte Dolce, Pettinociarelle. It expresses beautifully the value and precision of the old vines, ungrafted Nerello Mascalese on the high terraces in the Northern valley of Mount Etna. The most Burgundian of all our crus.
Average age of vines: 90+ years
Vinification: Destemming and light crushing of the grapes
Fermentation: starting with a “pied-de-cuve” using only indigenous yeasts and skin contact for about 60 days
Aging: In neutral epoxy tanks from 1500 liters to 2500 liters
Varietals: Nerello Mascalese
Farming: Not certified Organic/Biodynamic but practices in the fullest to be little to no intervention and sustainable. No fining or filtration, no added sulfites. As pure as they come.
