Carricante
Federico Curtaz has a long history in viticulture, working as an agronomist in Piedmont for decades before he fell in love with Sicily and moved to the island. In 2015 he founded his own project and began to source Carricante grapes on the eastern face of Mount Etna. Carricante is one of the great undiscovered gems in Italy, producing white wines that are piercingly mineral with considerable heft and texture. The 2018 Etna Bianco is true to form with intense stony flavors lifting lush orchard fruit and zesty citrus. It’s almost saline on the palate, a harmonious wine that leaves you refreshed and wanting another sip.
