Nero d'Avola
This is South Africa's first and only Nero d'Avola! In the search for drought-resistant clones that would fare well in the Mediterranean-like climate of South Africa, winery owner Petrus Bosman went through endless government hurdles to bring this new varietal to South Africa. After the onset of fermentation, regular punch downs was utilized for colour extraction. Wine spent 2 weeks on skins after fermentation before pressing in our basket press, and was aged 12 months in older French oak. The expression of this single vineyard site is entirely unique: lovely fresh berry flavors with hints of violets, lavender and fresh purple prunes, a light to medium bodied wine with a persistent finish.
