Standing Stone Vineyards, Finger Lakes Riesling 2015

Standing Stone appears to be an old-fashioned Finger Lakes winery, but it actually produced its first wine in 1993. Since then, owners Marti and Tom Macinski have consistently made an array of the region's best wines: Dessert wines from Vidal, Riesling, Chardonnay and Gewürztraminer; and table wines from Gewurztraminer, Chardonnay and Riesling. A thin wisp of smoke lends complexity to a bouquet full of sunny peaches and apricots on this perfumed Riesling. Off-dry in style, sweet pink-grapefruit flavor quenches the palate. It’s dancingly light in body yet surprisingly powerful in concentration.
