Château Montus Madiran

2015 80% Tannat 20% Cabernet Sauvignon This powerful wine comes from the spectacular terraces of the Montus vineyard. Concentrated and dense, it offers an impressive array of black-fruit flavors that are solid and focused. The wine needs many years for those tannins to soften a little (they will always be there). Drink from 2023. Unlike most of Madiran, the soil at Montus is similar to Châteauneuf-du-Pape, large pebbles or galets some 20in to 6ft in depth over a clay soil, and the slopes are steep.
